Dr. Janak Nathan has been awarded the prestigious Dr. John Freeman award to be conferred at the Biennial Global Ketogenic Therapies Symposium in San Diego, USA in September 2023. This award is to honor physicians, who are recognized for impactful and seminal contributions in the field of ketogenic therapies, but most importantly, those who have carried the torch with the same spirit and dedication as Dr. Freeman. He is the fifth recipient worldwide and the first Asian to win this award which is presented every alternate year. He was among the 28 international physicians shortlisted for this award. 

Dr. John Freeman, Pediatric Neurologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital was the pioneer in resurrecting ketogenic therapies. Dr. Janak Nathan worked with Dr. John Freeman in 1996 and pioneered the use of ketogenic therapies in Asia. He has trained many doctors and dietitians in the use of ketogenic therapies worldwide, especially in Asia.
